Kankakee County Planning Department

The Kankakee County Regional Planning Department is part of Kankakee County's full-time professional staff and is responsible for administrating and enforcing adopted ordinance and plans relating to new and existing development within the unincorporated areas of the County. All petitions for Kankakee County Board approval having to do with the use of land are processed through the Planning Department.

The Kankakee County Regional Planning Department is divided into two halves. The Planning Division, which regulates the use of land and guides development and the Building Division, which is responsible for monitoring both new construction as well as the maintenance and remodeling of existing structures. The Departments jurisdiction lies in the unincorporated areas of the County.

Kankakee County Transportation Survey
The Planning Department is developing the 2040 Long Range Transportation plan. Part of the process is to obtain information and opinions from the public. Your participation in this online survey will help the project team and local officials better understand current travel patterns and characteristics within the region. If you live, work, or travel through Kankakee County we ask that you take a few minutes to complete the following survey. This survey includes questions that relate to your household and questions that you are asked to answer based on your own experience or perception of the Kankakee Area transportation system. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and all responses are confidential. Hazard Mitigation Plan Update - Public Services

Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
The County of Kankakee has begun the process of updating its Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan. This update will present a strategy for reducing the County's vulnerability to the impacts of natural hazard events such as floods and tornadoes. The County's previous plan was adopted in 2006.

Grant Park Community Survey
The Planning Department is assisting the Village of Grant with the development of a new comprehensive plan. Part of the process is to obtain information and opinions from Village residents.
