Comprehensive Plan
Kankakee County's most recent Comprehensive Plan was written by Craig Hullinger with the firm of Planning and Development Services, Efraim Gil of the firm Gil and Associates, Inc. and Planning Department staff. It was adopted November 10, 1992 by the Kankakee County Board. The Plan includes six subject areas, or elements, which together comprise an integrated set of goals, policies and action programs. These elements are: Land Use / Growth Management, Transportation, Economic Development, Housing and Social Services, Solid Waste Management, and Environmental Resource Management. The Comprehensive Plan is a blueprint to be used by policy-makers in managing growth and development within the Kankakee region.
In 2004, Kankakee County contracted with HNTB Corporation to update our Comprehensive Plan. They will be looking to identify goals, objectives and strategies that facilitate desirable, sustainable development over the next twenty years.
A website has been setup to facilitate the dissemination of information for this Plan update throughout the planning process. The following link will take you to that website: http://www.k3countyplan.org
