Most of Kankakee County's population lives within municipal boundaries. The 19 municipalities within the County now account for 71% of the County's population compared with 69% in 1990. The municipalities of Bourbonnais, Bradley, Kankakee and Manteno account for nearly 60% of the County's 2000 population. Of the 17 Townships in the County, two Townships, Bourbonnais and Kankakee account for nearly 60% of the County's total 2000 population with 61,090 people.
