What is SHOW BUS?

SHOW BUS provides public transportation in Kankakee County using large and medium size busses and vans.

What jurisdictions have access to service?

SHOW BUS serves all jurisdictions within Kankakee County, however, one part of the trip must start or end in the rural area. SHOW BUS can take residents living in the Kankakee Metropolitan Area (Aroma Park, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Kankakee, and adjacent areas) to a rural location. Residents living in a rural location can be taken to another rural location and/or to the Kankakee Metropolitan Area.

Who is eligible to ride?

Everyone is eligible to ride. Persons of all ages and income levels may ride SHOW BUS. Lift equipped vehicles provide service to persons in wheelchairs.

Where are passengers picked up?

Passengers will be picked up at their homes or at central community locations. If a vehicle cannot access a home, alternate plans for picking up the person will be made.

What service does SHOW BUS offer?

Service in Kankakee County is available by reservation Monday through Friday as follows:

1) Scheduled routes (See “Route Map” below) for any trip purpose, including medical and other appointments, shopping, etc.
2) A limited amount of special service is available to medical and other appointments when these cannot be accomodated on scheduled routes. Requests are limited by driver and bus availability and should be made well in advance.

Can a passenger have more than one stop?

A passenger on a scheduled route can have more than one stop in the destination city or the Kankakee Metropolitan Area. Any passengers making multiple stops are asked to make arrangements with SHOW BUS prior to the trip.

How can a ride on SHOW BUS be arranged?


Reservations should be made on weekdays at least 24 hours in advance. Anyone needing a ride on a scheduled route may call 1-800-833-7750 to make a reservation. All requests for special service need to be made as far in advance as possible.

Round Trip cost to ride for Kankakee County residents:

For scheduled routes: $4.00

For special service to appointments not on a normal route: $12.00 (includes first 20 miles). Additional miles: $.50 per mile based on round trip mileage.
